Our National Committee

The National Committee is a voluntary group composed of RFID enthusiasts and experts from some of New Zealand’s leading RFID savvy organisations. The committee is elected under the provisions of the NZ RFID Pathfinder Constitution and new members are most welcome to register their interest in joining the National Committee.


Mark Rance, Chairman

Mark Rance has been Chairman of the New Zealand RFID Pathfinder Group since 2009 and a National Committee member since the group’s incorporation as a Society in 2006. Mark is the IT Manager for ANZCO Foods Limited, one of New Zealand largest meat processing organisation. Contact Mark Rance

Grant Pugh, Deputy Chairman

Grant Pugh has been a member of the National Committee of The New Zealand RFID Pathfinder Group since 2006. Grant is Managing Director of his own company named Tracient Technologies a specialist RFID organisation based in Christchurch. Contact Grant Pugh

Alan Mayo, Immediate Past Chairman

Alan Mayo was the inaugural Chairman of The New Zealand RFID Pathfinder Group, a position he held since November 2009. Alan is a senior consultant for Quid Est Veritas a project management and IT consultancy organisation. Contact Alan Mayo


Gary Hartley, Secretary

Gary Hartley has been Secretary to The New Zealand RFID Pathfinder Group since its inception in 2006. Gary is General Manager –Customer, for GS1 New Zealand, New Zealand’s member organisation of the not-for-profit, global standards development organisation, GS1. Contact Gary Hartley

Mark Powell, Committee Member

Mark Powell is the Managing Director of his own company named Electronic Identification Technologies Limited based in Auckland. Mark joined the National Committee in 2012. Mark has extensive RFID experience and has been involved in numerous implementations in many countries. Contact Mark Powell

Jerry Castellanos, Committee Member

Jerry Castellanos is Fonterra’s Traceability Lead. In this role Jerry is responsible for the delivering the transformation traceability systems across all Fonterra business units.
