| After Five 21 February 2008: Sustainability and tracking information |
|
After Five Report - 21st February 2008 Our Kyoto commitments require many New Zealand businesses to begin validating and reporting their carbon footprint to government at various stages over the coming months and years.
However, many businesses not immediately effected by the upcoming legislation are now beginning to feel pressure from government agencies, councils and overseas customers who want to see evidence of sustainability projects within their suppliers’ organisations. Even at the RFP stage.
And with the EU considering forcing importers to pay emission taxes on carbon-heavy imports and the US government considering charges on imports from countries that do not tax carbon, the pressure to act ahead of domestic regulations is increasing.
Chris Lindley from Revolution ID and Michael Field, Sustainability Practitioner, discussed sustainability, emissions reporting, government compliance requirements and the technologies that can assist in the collection of the detailed information.
Following the seminar there was also the opportunity to view Revolution ID’s RFID enabled supply chain demonstration which is currently being hosted in Microsoft’s Business Productivity Centre. For more information please visit http://www.theidrevolution.com/showcase/
